Procurement Category Manager for Logistics Services (Eastern Europe Cluster)
Procurement category management of the logistics (outbound & inbound: road transportation, railways, water transportation) and related services in the Eastern Europe Cluster (Russia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Ukraine) in order to supply 5 cement plants and 3 quarries with transportation means. Achieved cost reduction vs. previous year in 2 countries (despite negative macroeconomic factors), in others complied with the budget; took part in improvement of transportation service level & significant decrease of road accidents by introduction of KPIs for the suppliers.
• Managed procurement category and developed category strategy (annual spend >$ 8X M) for 3 years for the countries in the area of responsibility;
• Prepared the 3-year budget for all types of cargo transportation for countries in Cluster and justified it in front of the Executive Committee (country), Financial Department and Regional Procurement Head;
• Forecasted major price trends basing on the market analysis and macroeconomic indicators, followed up with the plan of projects to reduce costs and the comply with the budget;
• In cooperation with internal clients prepared, approved and implemented annual sourcing plan aimed at cost optimization, meeting the business needs and Global category strategy;
• Supported implementation of the company's strategy to increase sales by providing customers high-level transportation services (OTD >95%) and minimizing transport costs, resulting in the EBITDA increase by >35%;
• Performed regular analysis of the current costs & contractor portfolio (>350) in order to optimize costs, improve payment terms and reduce the base of contractors;
• Conducted regular market research to analyze the best practices, find new potential contractors, forecast price trends and their impact on the company's operations to provide information to management and proactively respond;
• Consulted and coordinated employees (in different countries), responsible for the procurement of logistics services to implement category strategy and sourcing plan;
• Managed the activities of subordinates, distributed tasks, coordinated and controlled the tendering process in order to comply with internal procurement procedures and achieve targets according to defined schedule;
• Organized and conducted sourcing projects with a budget of >$2M (Russia, Azerbaijan). The sourcing process included internal and external analysis, RFI, determination of TCO and Should Cost Model, prequalification of contractors, RFP (BravoSolutions platform), negotiations with suppliers, awarding of the contractors selected with the internal customers, contract approval and coordination during onboarding of new suppliers;
• Organized sale of the fixed assets of the company (>$5M) according to the strategy focused on the core business and outsourcing of transportation services to the strategic partners;
• Provided information and reports on local costs, savings, projects, and status of category strategy implementation to Regional and Global Logistics Procurement Managers;
• Worked with owners and manufacturers of railcars (open tops, hopper wagons & covered wagons), ship owners, ports and transport contractors. Organized and leaded negotiations with the top level officials of the companies in order to reduce costs, improve quality of service and discuss new areas for cooperation;
• Regularly made presentations and reports to the Executive Committee for the Country & Regional Heads;
• Participated in quarterly meetings with strategic contractors to review performance, improve KPIs and deliver services according to the global safety directives;
• Coordinated contracts signing process, as well as claim work.
