Head of Sales Marketing and Events Department
Velaa Private Island. Exclusive, Exclusive, luxury private island boutique retreat within Maldives archipelago, comprising 47 villas and with an annual turnover of US$35 million.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing a US$350k marketing budget, creating and executing plans to meet company objectives
- Working in collaboration with the sales team to identify and generate sales initiatives; increasing revenues through booking promotions, as well as additional sales with current guests
- Strategic and critical path planning of events, subsequent event management and supervision of the project teams across food & beverage, technical & operations and culinary areas
- Maximising guest experience revenue, including: luxury spa, aquatic, holiday clubs, premium excursions and cruises, professional sports coaching opportunities
- Leading business development within Brazil and with EU and CIS countries, through presentations, visits, meetings and on-going communication to build relationships with target travel agent network
- Managing and developing relationships with the media (specific journalists and industry bloggers) together with 4 external PR agencies for the UK, Brazil and GCC, ASEAN countries
- Maximising brand awareness, customer engagement and acquisition opportunities through newsletters and social media platforms for the UK, GCC, ASEAN and CIS countries
- Continual analysis of marketing channel trends and monitoring competitor marketing and PR activities
- Working in conjunction with external design resource on layout and production of digital and print media, ensuring consistency with island website www.velaaprivateisland.com and brand values
Key achievements:
- Planned and coordinated 5 major island events which delivered US$21million in total revenue
- Collaborative team achievements: Tatler Travel Award 2015 for best villa and International Hotel Award in association with Rolls Royce
- Created a unique PR news story based on the island’s rare collection of Cognacs, which reached 17 million readers within the key consumer regions of mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan
- Increased reach and engagement on social media by 50% and converted social media leads to sales
- Key contribution to exceeding the sales plan by 30% in year 2014 to 2015
- Built a range of cross-selling and up-selling offers, which delivered significant incremental sales
- Consistently meeting and exceeding clients’ luxury lifestyle concierge and event requests
- Sole resident marketing lead for a period of a year, reporting directly to the General Manager
- Consistently delivering high quality events and achieving excellent customer satisfaction feedback
